NB. This event is supported by L&G, Asset Management.
Climate change is not a distant threat; it is an urgent reality. Investors, companies and civil society all have a role to play in accelerating the transition to a low-carbon economy.
Investors face significant barriers to engagement on this topic. For example, many ask themselves: “Does our engagement actually have an effect?” Companies participate in discussions, but hardly change their policies or behaviour. Engagement sometimes becomes a tick-the-box exercise, without reducing CO₂ emissions or making strategies truly sustainable.
In addition, some engagement processes conflict with financial interests and shareholders in large multinationals or state-owned enterprises often have only limited say. Even collective engagement via investor coalitions can then exert little pressure. Finally, legislation and regulations on sustainable investments are changing rapidly and differ per region. This creates legal uncertainty and reluctance to pursue active engagement strategies.
How do we tackle these problems? This event brings together key stakeholders and critical voices to discuss how engagement can truly drive transformation. Expect sharp insights, honest conversations and concrete strategies.
