NB. This workshop is in Dutch. It’s organized by the VBDO in collaboration with Triodos Bank as part of the Sustainable Weekend in Utrecht.
Investing is the new saving. But how do you start investing? And how do you ensure that your money ends up with companies that have a positive impact on the world – preferably with a good one? Step 1: follow this workshop!
Does saving still pay off? How will I pay off my student grant? Can I still earn extra money besides my work? Many people switch from saving to investing. The year 2020 broke all records: more than 160,000 investors joined the Netherlands. Most of them are younger than 35. Not everyone realizes that investing can also make a positive impact on the world. That is, if you decide that you will do so sustainably.
With sustainable investment, in addition to financial return, you also look at the added value of your investment on people and the environment. Do you earn less? That is not necessary at all. In fact, in some cases it is even more rewarding. An example: you put your money into a clothing factory that makes a lot of profit. But after a few years it turns out that they are guilty of child labour. What do you think will happen to the value of your shares? Traditional investing is often about returns in the short term, but sustainable investing can certainly yield more in the long term – not just for yourself, but for everyone.
In this workshop you will learn the basics of investing and what to think about if you want to do this sustainably. So have you just started investing or are you thinking about it? Then this workshop is for you.
