NN Group has won the Tax Transparency Award for the third year in a row. NN scored 32 out of 35 points, the same as last year. Second place goes to Philips (31 points).
The results of the VBDO Tax Transparency Benchmark are assessed annually by five jury members, with a background or specialization in tax transparency. This year’s jury consisted of Hans Gribnau (Leiden University & Tilburg University), Irene Burgers (RUG), Klaas Bangma (FNV), Anna Gunn (Article 104 & Leiden University), and Michiel van Esch (Robeco). The jury’s assessment is important because they not only determine the score of the participating companies but also express their views on the desired improvements.
The jury congratulated NN Group on, among other things, the depth of their tax strategy and the extensive risk section. “This year, given the small differences at the top of the rankings, the jury sees reason to call Philips honorable, both for the enormous progress it has made and for the quality of its tax reporting,” the report said.
The Tax Transparency Benchmark is established annually in collaboration with PwC.
