HUMAN is a partnership between EY, CNV International and ABN AMRO, which is committed to promoting human rights. The theme of HUMAN 2023 is the implementation of the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD). <\/strong><\/p>\n

The European Parliament agreed on the CSDDD in early June this year. This regulation requires companies to conduct due diligence on and take responsibility for human rights violations and environmental damage in their global value chains.<\/p>\n

During this seminar, we took a closer look at the regulations and what their potential implications are for companies and investors.<\/p>\n

  • 2:30 – 3:10 pm (plenary): Walk-in & welcome<\/strong> | Ang\u00e9lique Laskewitz, Executive Director, VBDO<\/li>\n
  • 3:10 – 3:30 pm (plenary): The revised OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises and their implications\u00a0for the CSDDD<\/strong> | Katharine Booth, Researcher and Policy Advisor, OECD Watch, SOMO
    \nKatharine talked about the revised OECD guidelines and the implications of this revision for multinational corporations. In addition, she explained the involvement of the OECD Watch network in the work to strengthen the CSDDD. Finally, attention was drawn to the coexistence of the CSDDD and the OECD Guidelines.<\/em><\/li>\n
  • 3:35 – 4:20 pm Breakout sessions:<\/strong>\n

    • The legal status of the CSDDD<\/strong>\u00a0| Colette Grosscurt & Bas Sprenger de Rover, EY
      \nDuring this session, the current status of due diligence in EU regulation was discussed, including the overlaps between CSRD, CSDDD and Taxonomy Minimum Safeguards. After the introduction, the participants shared insights and challenges in implementing key aspects of due diligence.<\/em><\/li>\n
    • CSDDD<\/strong>\u00a0perspective from the financial sector<\/strong> – Nelleke Hoffs, Business & human rights advisor, ABN AMRO
      \nDuring this session, the perspective of banks on CSDDD will be addressed.\u00a0What changes and challenges do banks foresee in conducting human rights and environmental due diligence as a result of the CSDDD? How are we preparing for these changes? ABN AMRO will also take you through an example of client engagement based on human rights violations in the solar panel industry.<\/em><\/li>\n
    • CSDDD and stakeholder engagement – the role of trade unions in the due diligence process<\/strong> – Margot Offerijns, Junior Programme Officer Asia & Manon Wolfkamp, Project Lead – Initiative Responsible Entrepreneurship), CNV Internationaal
      \nCompanies struggle to fulfil the requirements of stakeholder engagement in (upcoming) legislation. We believe that a constructive dialogue with trade unions can support your HR due diligence process, especially regarding labour rights in your supply chain. In this session, we would like to tell you how, using concrete examples.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
