On the occasion of\u00a0COP24<\/a>, which is taking place this year in Katowice, Poland, until December 14th, five leading banks team up in pledge to align lending portfolios with global climate goals.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

ING<\/a>, BBVA, Societe Generale, Standard Chartered and BNP\u00a0Paribas committed to measure the climate alignment of their lending portfolio, and to explore ways to progressively steer financial flows through their core lending towards the goals of the Paris Agreement.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n

The institutions have announced this in\u00a0a joint statement<\/a>\u00a0at the climate summit in Katowice. The banks have a joint loan book of \u20ac 2400 billion.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

How? By supporting the goal set out in Article 2.1c of the\u00a0Paris Agreement<\/a>:\u00a0“Making finance flows consistent with a pathway towards low greenhouse gas emissions and climate-resilient development.”<\/i><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
