Het groene boegbeeld gaat weg, maar hoe duurzaam is Unilever eigenlijk?<\/h3>\n

Afzwaaiend Unilever-ceo Paul Polman wordt geroemd om zijn duurzame koers. Maar hoe duurzaam is het bedrijf nu eigenlijk? En houdt opvolger Alan Jope die nalatenschap in stand?<\/p>\n<\/article>\n

‘Je stelt de juiste vraag niet! Waarom vraag je niet of we 600 miljoen mensen hebben bereikt met betere health and wellbeing? Of we vijf miljoen mensen hebben bereikt door banen te cre\u00ebren voor kleinschalige boeren? Hoeveel van onze productie duurzaam is?\u2019<\/p>\n

Tijdens het\u00a0spraakmakende interview<\/a>\u00a0dat Paul Polman een kleine week voor zijn vertrek aan het AD gaf, reageert de topman niet alleen boos op kritische\u00a0vragen, maar ook als de journalisten zijn lievelingsonderwerp negeren: duurzaamheid.<\/p>\n

Onder zijn leiding formuleerde het bedrijf in 2010 het Unilever Sustainable Living Plan (USLP), vijftig doelstellingen die de milieuschade van het bedrijf moeten halveren, terwijl de omzet zou worden verdubbeld. Zo wilde Polman aantonen dat duurzame investeringen juist groei aanjagen.<\/p>\n

Groene held<\/strong>
\nPolmans opstelling leverde hem een\u00a0bewierookt imago<\/a>\u00a0op – met bijbehorende messiasachtige trekjes, volgens sommigen – maar niet iedereen heeft de topman zo hoog op het voetstuk staan.<\/p>\n

Voor langetermijnbeleggers is Polman nog steeds niets minder dan een groene held.\u00a0\u2018Unilever behoort wat mij betreft echt tot de koplopers als het gaat om duurzaamheid’, zegt Ang\u00e9lique Laskewitz, directeur van de Vereniging van Beleggers voor Duurzame Ontwikkeling (VBDO). ‘Daar heeft Paul Polman\u00a0tien jaar heel hard voor gewerkt. Ik hoop dat die koers wordt voortgezet onder de nieuwe topman.\u2019<\/p>\n
